My family became hooked on Harry Potter in 2001, when my son was going through a stage of reluctance to read fiction. Now it is a family hobby.

I am an Englishwoman from Birmingham and I am a psychology teacher. My husband, who is Australian, is a computer programmer and IT manager. We have two sons aged 16 and 11 and a daughter of 13. We are Evangelical Christians.

How would you react if everything you had always believed impossible turned up in the centre of your family?

A series of one-shots narrated by Muggles whose sibling, lover or child turned out to be a wizard.

There is nothing original about the setting or characters of these stories. All were invented or implied by the great J. K. Rowling. Along with all her loyal fans, I am grateful for her permission to borrow Hogwarts and its amazing inhabitants. I have made no capital and I intend no breach of copyright.

Growing up with two stepfamilies, Sally-Anne Perks has all the usual family problems in triplicate. Now her stepmother wants to prevent her attending the Yule Ball. Will this ruin Sally-Anne’s chances of winning her prince? And who has stolen her magic shoe?

This is a response to an old challenge to retell a traditional fairy tale with a Hogwarts setting. You might consider that I put a twist in the ending… or you might not.

WARNINGS. I know this isn't the usual category of warnings... But this story contains some material that might be offensive to stepmothers and other material that might be distressing to stepchildren. I'd like to blame C Perrault and J & W Grimm for that, but the truth is, I chose to write this story.
