I'm a fan of the so-called minor characters--McGonagall (my fave), Neville, Luna, Fred and George, Angelina, Colin Creevey, Cho, etc.

I love new takes on old relationships, though I have a real hard time reading slash (unless it's backed up by believable background, plot twists, and characterizations.)  I have no use for gratuitous violence.

I also like well-fleshed-out, invented characters.  Grace HasVictory's Ariadne McDougal/Remus Lupin ship comes to mind, as does the character of Alexandra in Cheryl78's 'The Snake and the Eagle.'

It's been five years since the last Triwizard Tournament and Hogwarts has gone through a war. Now Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione are back after rebuilding their beloved school to finish their education - but there’s a surprise. It's Beauxbatons' year to host the tournament and Hogwarts is putting together a delegation. New adventures are in store for Harry and Ginny as they travel to a foreign country, meet some old friends (and even older enemies), attend the traditional Yule Ball, and get involved in a mystery that could prove deadly for one of the three champions. H/G and R/H pairings. Post HBP canon.

I was expecting a ho-hum chapter reporting duels blow by blow, like an ESPN show, but Ginny's strategy with Luna, Nott's perfidy, Harry's reaction to it, and the on-going tension between Hermione and Ron (Harry 'whipped'?--ooh, nasty!) moved the chapter forward  nicely.

That's cool, making background information (a reminiscence cabout the war) come out of a ride to the train.  Broadens our understanding of how different people reacted to Voldemort and defuses a little of Harry's rancor.

No, no, Luna, Nurgle is the Lord of Decay, one of the four Powers of a Warhammer Chaos army.  ; )

But--Mirror Portals--way cool!

How can a purple butterfly lead five-year-old Hermione Granger into the arms of little Draco Malfoy? Light and fluffy Hermione/Draco!

Aw, that was so cute.  And very much Hermione.  Poor Draco.  He changes a lot, doesn't he?  It wouldn't surprise me at all if he was just a nice little boy at first.

Author's Response:

It wouldn't surprise me either Spiderwort! Thank you very much for the review! I'm glad you liked it!

I like the way you build suspense with Ron's *You'll see*s.  (How like an older brother, by the way.)

I like the way you describe Ginny vis a vis Harry, strewing about the telltale signs of a soured relationship.

Love her feelings for Ron--a lot of awwww moments there.

And the challenge of making Draco likeable--I think you'll convince me.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much.  I do hope that I can convince you that Draco is worthy of being liked!

Chapter 1: Valleys of Green and Grey 01

Malfoy and the gang of (mostly) Gryffindors have a drunken discussion about Muggles, and why Malfoy doesn't like them.

Great fun!  I'd love to see this expanded.  You've chosen your cast of characters well: a grumpy Draco, Harry for Draco to belittle, Hermione with her infuriating common sense, Ron (though I think he's underused here as keeper of the hooch), and Luna, as daffy counterpoint to Hermione.  Write on, oh Aestel!

Author's Response:

Thanks!  I'm glad you liked it and the way the characters worked.  It was pretty hard for me to try to capture them in under 500 words.

I won't be expanding this drabble if I can help it, but anyone else is welcome to.

The needed message and lesson notwithstanding, I say this chapter deserves a follow-up.  I love your inventions: the many charms, devices, and potions Snape and Pomfrey use to help Harry.  Though you make me weep at Minerva's lack of backbone (my fave character), I forgive it because of the care you take to satisfactorily explain the AU-ness of the plot.

 Cheers!

HP7 Spoilers. Snape dies, he visits King's Cross. Unwillingly after a great shock, he came back to earthly reality with a figurative thud. What remained on the ground was his lifeless corpse. Severus Snape had become the newest Hogwarts resident ghost. This is the story of his time in Limbo

I love your explanation for the meaning of Kings Cross.  It puts me in mind of 'The Great Divorce' by C.S. Lewis.  But will the train return for Severus?

I love your use of words.  Very precise, and in some ways, unique.

Author's Response: Thanks very much. I'm glad you like it. And, to see if the train returns, keep reading . . .

I am so on tenterhooks about this.  You reveal just enough to tease.  I like the way you set a scene, limn Ginny's relationship with Hermione, draw us into the waiting game with her.  Where is Harry, and what the hell is he doing?  I can't wait to find out.
