My name is Angie, I'm 22, and I live in Ohio.  I write an Oliver Wood fanfiction, and thought it couldn't hurt to find somewhere new to post.

I like to write about Oliver Wood because... well... Sean Biggerstaff is hot lol.  But seriously, I like that Oliver is a relatively unexplored character.  I'm not tied down to certain constraints like I would be if I were writing about, say, Harry Potter.

starstarstarstarstar [Reviews - 11]
A Scottish witchling comes of age between two Muggle wars, her father a proud Highland laird, her mother a Muggle-born witch troubled by a dark past. First year Minerva McGonagall looks forward to school with no greater ambition than to make her House Quidditch team and come home for the Christmas holidays to a mother freed of her deep depression. But Minerva's first year will be marred by frustration and grief, as she struggles to help her family and find her place in the wizarding world. She will enjoy the support of friends, but her greatest ally will be the author of a book she found in a dustbin.

Ah, much better to start at the beginning. :p

The idea of historical fanfiction is fascinating to me.  I wish I had more time to read tonight!

Author's Response:

Me too.  Devour them myself.  I never realized how much research was involved, but Google makes it almost easy.

"It's probably okay."

Ha!  I'm really enjoying this story.

Chapter 5: 5. Trapped!
Double Justice by Spiderwort [Mid Teens]

18-year old Minerva plans to work in London, and keep the home-fires burning for her husband Dug, who is gone off to Auror boot camp in Australia.  She must also support her mother's efforts to become a Healer, though she dislikes her specialty: Legilimency.  And she holds in her heart a promise Professor Dumbledore made to her before she left school.

Historical fanfiction?  Wonderful idea!  I can't wait to read more.

Author's Response:

Glad you like, Gwen.  You might also want to try the first two books of this trilogy: Childhood's End (Minerva's first year at Hogwarts) and Three Orphans (her remaining school years).  The second one ties in with a lot of Muggle doings of the period, esp. the war.

Chapter 1: Prologue
Hard Loss by h_vic [Mid Teens]
starstarstarstarhalf-star [Reviews - 1]

For Oliver Wood, Quidditch is everything, or almost, and he has never taken to failure well. So, when the biggest game of his career doesn’t go to plan, it takes someone who cares about more than just his skill on a broom to make him see that there is more to life than Quidditch.

Yay, another OW fan!  There is a definite shortage of good OW fics.  I always seem to find a lot of slash when I go searching.  But if Oliver were gay, well... I'd be really depressed lol.

Very well written.  I think you captured Oliver's competitive streak and how hard he takes a loss very well.  Good characterization of Katie, as well.  I don't portray her so nicely in my own fic lol.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

A poem about the Elves, perhaps written by Bilbo in Rivendell.

It does sound like something Bilbo could have written.  It's the simple, honest poetry of Hobbit-folk.  Well done!

Author's Response:

Oh, thank you so much! That's a lovely compliment to be compared to Bilbo - the best I could hope for. :) Thank you for reading this poem and for leaving such a nice review! ~Gina :)

Chapter 1: Chapter 1
Feature

In Breaking Dawn, Edward tells Bella that he talked to Carlisle and his brothers about their wedding night.  Given how mannerly and gentlemanly both Edward and Carlisle are, I've often wondered how the conversation between them went.  This is a stand-alone one shot that will eventually have at least two companion pieces

I can honetly say that I enjoyed that better than actually reading Twilight.  Very well written.

Author's Response:

Wow, what a compliment!  Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!
