A forty-something piano teacher and the mother of a kindergartener who loves Harry Potter as much as Mommy does, I love to read and write Harry Potter fan fiction when I'm not practicing the music from the films.

Dudley Dursley is ordered by the court to change his deliquent ways. Guess who is in charge of his house arrest? Harry Potter, of course. Based on a true story.

The idea that Snape is blackmailing Harry just gets my knickers in a twist! That is no way for a professional teacher to act, but then again, when has Snape ever been fair? It'll be great fun to see how Petunia and Vernon react to having the greasy-haired abomination in their house and whether or not they will let him "treat" Vernon. Anticipation is very high on this subject. The most touching part of this chapter for me was Dudley's comment acknowledging Harry's mum. I'm beginning to think that Dudley is really learning something about self-image, respecting others and getting along with those who are different from him. I was really glad to learn that Dudley had not made a mistake with the wiring, that he had confidence in his ability on that subject and that he was able to communicate maturely, it seemed to me, with the utility worker. I look forward to your next chapter.

Author's Response: You're right, Dudley is maturing, as is Harry. Dudley just has further to go. Dudley isn't very bright. It seems to me that no one is as stupid as cannon Dudley appears to be. I wanted Dudley to have at least one skill. I also wanted him to teach Harry something, hence the acceptance of his Aunt Lily. You picked right up on most of the pieces I wanted emphasized in the chapter. It feels great to know you noticed. Thanks for the great reveiw Arnel!

Chapter 5: Blackmail
Ginny decides that Harry needs to see a moment of beauty, to counter the ugliness he's seen. Harry shows her he already has one.

I can see why this story won Best Humor for the SIYE contest. This story is really well done and had my attention from the first sentence. You write all the characters so sensitively and I especially like how thoughtful Ginny is in this story. I also loved the running joke about the beater's bats and the cupids in Madam Puddifoot's and how when Harry and Ginny found themselves barred from Quality Quidditch Supplies Harry still managed to make their trip to the coffee shop relatively cupid-free by sitting on one. That particular part had me smirking from ear to ear. I'm glad you shared this story with us. Arnel P.S. By the way, you did a beautiful job of hiding the bonus phrases...I looked them up in one of my own files and had to go hunting for them in your story! Bravo!

Chapter 1: The Plan
One-shot. Harry, Ron and Hermione are at Privet Drive for the summer after the events of their sixth year. Harry is having trouble sleeping, so he does something a bit desperate. “Those who love us never really leave us. You can always find them in here.” – Sirius, PoA movie

This story is truly heart-wrenching and I have to agree with Hermione that it's all right for Harry to find the strength within himself by carrying on a conversation with Lily and James. I will definitely be coming back to reread your story for its sense of loyalty, love and caring friendship. Please post again soon.

That was depressing. But then again, if Harry truly feels that all his hope has fled, maybe, because of his time with the Dursleys which taught him that there really is no hope, there really isn't any more meaning for his existance. Is there a reactionary story to this one, possibly from the angle of all those on the battlefield who stopped and witnessed Harry's demise?

Author's Response: There isn't, yet. But I'll definitely try to write that sometime. It could prove to be very, very interesting. :D Thanks for the review!

Funny situation, great outcome. I hope there's something like this in Book 7...romance, angst and humor all rolled into one good story. Nice job! Thanks for sharing it with us.

What a nice eulogy for Ginny...a little depressing, but since they seem to be Harry's genuine thoughts, they can only be coming from the heart. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Author's Response: *laughs* My pleasure. I'm glad you liked it :)

Wow! Talk about parental fortitude! Arthur's got the right idea, but carrying it out has got to be really hard on him. I'm glad Molly wasn't around when she left, though. I love the simplicity of this piece and love that it's from the father's point of view. I hope there will be others coming soon.

No mistakes found here! It's a beautifully done stolen moment in time. I love the end when Ron maturely tells Hermine that they need to wait until all is said and done before pursuing a serious relationship and that if she's willing to wait, so is he. This is a story I'll be coming back to.

I'm confused. If Hermione hasn't ever smoked is there a reason she's stricken with lung cancer? You don't say why and it seems to me that she would ask that question herself. Criticisms aside, you've written a very nice story. Your characterizations are very believable, especially that Ron doesn't understand what's to happen to Hermione and that Harry does and can even tease her about it a little. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Author's Response: First of all, thanks for your review. I'm always happy to get criticism from my readers, so to speak. As to the confusion, I admit, it was my fault. But not only smoking can cause lung cancer: ""Competing risk factors" such as secondhand smoke, asbestos, radon, occupational exposures, age, race, sex, and heredity also may play a role in lung cancer development (see Lung Cancer Risk Factors). " In Hermione's case, it would be hereditary. Hope that clears something up. :) Thanks again!

Awww! That was cute. It's great to see what authors come up with for Harry's and Ginny's stolen moments. I'm glad they're so good for each other and so much in love. Harry's going to need it sooner rather than later. Thanks for sharing.
