Welcome to Wizardtales!

We're always glad to have new authors and new stories and can't wait to read your submission!

However, before you submit, please read over these guidelines and make sure your submission is ready for the Mod Squad.

Wizardtales is a moderated fanfiction archive, meaning a Moderator reads every submission and authors will recieve notification when their story is accepted. If your story is rejected, we promise to tell you why it was rejected and to work with you. We encourage everyone who gets rejected to re-submit their story as many times as it takes.

Wizardtales is a site about writing, run by writers. We encourage everyone to write whatever story they want to write, whether it's canon compliant or not.

DISCLAIMERS

This is fanfiction, y'all. The original ideas we're basing our stories off of are not ours, and Wizardtales requires all submissions to have a disclaimer.

Sample Disclaimer:

All publicly recognizable characters, settings, etc. are the property of their respective owners. The original characters and plot are the property of the author. The author is in no way associated with the owners, creators, or producers of any media franchise. No copyright infringement is intended.

• All chapters must have a disclaimer.
• All disclaimers must attribute the fandom to the original author or authors.
• Songfic disclaimers must attribute the song to the artist(s) and songwriter.

Wizardtales will reject all submissions without a disclaimer.

RATINGS

• All Ages: Appropriate for all ages.
• Young Teens: Appropriate for 13 +. Mild violence, no profanity, no nudity.
• Mid Teens: Appropriate for 16 +. Some violence, mild profanity, suggested nudity.
• Adult Appropriate for 17 +. Graphic violence, profanity, nudity. Wizardtales requires readers to acknowledge they are of age to read Adult rated stories.
• Tantric Magic: Stories with extreme graphic violence, sex or nudity. Wizardtales requires readers to acknowledge they are of age to read Tantric Magic rated stories.  Additionally, all Tantric Magic-rated stories must be placed in The Underground category.
  

The Wizardtales Mod Squad reserves the right to change the rating on any submission.

GENERAL

Wizardtales recommends all stories be beta-read before being submitted. If you need help finding a qualified beta-reader, please visit the Writing Help board.

• All stories must have correct spelling and grammar.
• Stories must be submitted under only one category, but the author may select as many classifications, genres and warnings as they feel are applicable.
• Fandom Crossovers must contain only fandoms which are already supported by WizardTales.  For example, Harry Potter / Lord of the Rings crossovers are acceptable, but Twilight / Buffy crossovers are not.
• Multi-chaptered stories cannot be submitted as separate stories.
• Only five submissions per author at any given time. Each chapter of a multi-chaptered story is counted as one submission.
• Story summaries must be rated All Ages and cannot contain requests for reviews or excerpts of the story.
• Story summaries must contain appropriate warnings, such as slash, graphic violence, suicide, etc. The Wizardtales Mod Squad reserves the right to add warnings if they are deemed necessary.
• Story summaries should include spoiler warnings where necessary.
• Wizardtales does not accept PWP (Porn Without Plot) submissions.
• Wizardtales does not allow incest, graphic rape or bestiality.

The Wizardtales Mod Squad reserves the right to make minor grammar, spelling and format corrections to all submissions.

FORMAT

• Stories may not be written in all caps or using AlTerNaTinG letters.
• Stories may not have embedded graphics or banners.
• Please do not enclose the title of your story with quotation marks. This plays merry hob with the database.
• Please leave all story titles as plain text. Bold, italics, and underlines also play merry hob with the database.
• All chapters must be at least 1000 words.
• Epilogues, prologues and interludes must be at least 500 words.
• Drabbles must be at least 500 words. If you want to post a shorter Drabble, please visit the Mini-Drabble board.
• Songfics must be at least 1000 words. Song lyrics can be only 10% of the total word count

 

OFFSITE LINKS

Authors may include one (and ONLY one) offsite link within a story or chapter.  Offsite links must meet the following requirements:

• They must be placed in the CHAPTER END NOTES of your chapter.  This is the only appropriate place for offsite links.
• Links may ONLY be to a personal site or blog containing further information about your story.  No links to other fanfiction sites or communities are allowed.
• Linked sites may not be pornographic in nature, nor may they be links to ad sites.

The WizardTales Mod Squad has the right to move, modify or remove any links in your story, or to reject chapters containing link violations at their own discretion.  Repeated violations of this policy could result in your account being banned.
