Brilliant piece. Nicely characterized and great set up of the atmosphere. I also loved your descriptions.

Author's Response: Thanks, Ham.  I don't often use setting to enhance character development, but it seemed right for the elderly professor. I'm glad you found it effective.

Lovely! Generally, anything you read about Tom Riddle never shows how good of a student he was but you really showed why all the teachers loved him.

Author's Response: Thanks, Thoth.  Yes, Tom had to get through seven years at Hogwarts and hide his twistedness all that time.  He was very smart and patient and sneaky and had to work very hard to keep up the image.  I think he even managed to fool Dumbledore--at least a little.

Very, very good.  I liked the fact that Professor Merrythought never suspected anything evil from Tom.  Nice hints at Tom's Legilimency, as well.  I'm impressed.
