An interesting start! The several changes of perspective/POV are a bit jarring, but I like Madeline. She has the potential to be an intriguing character. I have a feeling there's a lot that is not being said here about her == like why she was galavanting all around Europe, why she didn't want to go to school, and Lily's strange mental picture of her.
